THE WOMEN’S COLLEGE CLUB OF PRINCETON

PRINCETON NJ 08540
PRESIDENT’S MESS AGE – Our dedicated Treasurer, Kay Bingeman, reports that our organization has had our Non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity status reinstated by the IRS effective immediately. We have enjoyed using this for the Women’s College Club of Princeton since it became tax-exempt in 1970, fifty-four years after it was founded in 1916. Our mission throughout the College Club’s history has not wavered from providing financial assistance to help qualified young women graduating from secondary schools in the Princeton area attend college. Because it took some time to achieve this, we strengthened our reputation by developing our website (wccpnj.org) with the assistance of our member and webmaster Helen Ju (wccpnjweb@gmail.com). We have networked at a conference with over 400 other nonprofits, distributed Website business cards to members to share, and are now preparing for our Spring Fundraiser. Please support us. Reba Lippincott
GENERAL MEETING – We shall have our APRIL FUNDRAISER at 11:30 a.m. on April 22, 2013 at the Present Day Club. Details can be found on pages 2 and 3.
BOARD MEETING – The venue for our Board Meeting on April 2 will be the Princeton Municipal Building Community Room (400 Witherspoon Street, Princeton) from 10:00 to 12:00 noon. Small snacks are permitted. Tea and coffee will be brought by Reba Lippincott and Beverly Dubee.
NOTE FROM OUR HOSPITALITY CHAIR – For our President’s Day general meeting, Barbara Rubano brought another of her unique centerpieces, an arrangement of flags. Our festive table was filled with delicious food, Kathy Hutchins’ beautiful bowl of fruit, and members Marge White, Carol Stawski, Dora Bowers, Shirley Grenfield, Dotty Fullam, and Doris Tazalaar baked and/or assembled desserts and sandwiches. Many helped with setting up and cleanup, including Mary Ellen Parry, Barbara Rubano, Kathy Hutchins, and Doris Tazalaar. Thanks to all of you! Janet Young

APRIL FUNDRAISER – Our annual Spring fundraiser this year will be on Monday, April 22, 2013 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a complimentary glass of wine.
WE SHALL NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESS – IT IS THE ONLY ONE THIS YEAR.
NEEDED:
WHITE ELEPHANT SALE: Gently-used items for which you have no use but which someone else will have fun buying a “treasure” for a small amount (think yard sale). Call Carol Stawski for pick-up or bring to the next board or general meeting.
SILENT AUCTION: With one or two other members, put together a basket with a theme, list what is inside, and the value of your offering. Call Aloha Holloway to avoid duplicates or for suggestions. Another idea: Ask for a gift certificate at your favorite store, beauty parlor, or tradesman. Ask Kay Bingeman for our EiN# for tax-exempt status. A third idea: A holiday gift you really can’t use but for which someone else will find room.

Dear Fellow Members,
Although I have spoken to a few of you of my imminent relocation to North Carolina, I want to tell the membership why I support the club and regret leaving it.
I believe in the purpose of the organization to aid and encourage young women to continue their education. But just as important to me is the fellowship among the members. Although I was unable to participate more fully, I was welcomed and able to enjoy all the benefits of the programs, meetings, lectures, trips, and the congeniality.
I also want to tell you of my admiration for your efforts. You are a very special group to work with. I wish to thank Lorraine, who on a chance meeting on a bus encouraged me to attend a meeting.
The Women’s College Club of Princeton leads the list of things I will miss the most. However, fond memories will always be with me.
Sincerely,
Ruth Freed
Ruth, we miss you and the help you gave us and send you our best wishes!
