“One of the things that got lost in the shuffle of the annual meeting, the end of our year, and the summer is the departure of Josephine Ondetti to Portland, Oregon, where she will be closer to her family. We all surely think of Josephine as the gracious and generous hostess of the College Club’s new members’ teas. Her personal style and welcoming house provided just the right atmosphere for us all to gather to meet our “newbies” even if they had been among us for almost a year or indeed more. And those wonderful rooms and all that food! I first met Josephine when Barbara Johnson (then Club president), Jane Coda and I went to visit her to try to persuade her be president. We failed. I fell in love with all her wonderful china and that wonderful room in the back off the kitchen where in the future I would have so much trouble getting up from that all enveloping sofa! And she had such style, wonderful hair and was always so glad to see you… “Hello, Darlink.” I have her address and would be happy to share it.
New members, however, still need to be welcomed and made to feel how important they are to us all. Consequently, we will be spending our January breakfast gathering at the Nassau Club on Monday, January 13th, making sure that all our new members feel at home and hopefully they will share some of their history and interests with us.” -Kathy Hutchins, Club President
