October 16, 2023 General Meeting

October 16, 2023 Monday.  Dr. Ruth Schulman “Women in the Clergy.” Ruth Schulman is a life-long social activist with a strong interest in human psychology.  Her educational credentials include Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in psychology and counseling.  She has been a Hebrew school educator, and at Rutgers University she served as Executive Administrator, Assistant Dean, and Associate Dean over a twenty-five-year period. Through her Doctoral dissertation Ruth studied “The First Class of Women admitted to Rabbinical Training at the Jewish Theological Seminary.”  She followed up her study sometime later by re-interviewing the study participants to discuss their successes and challenges.  Ruth’s dissertation was also excerpted in a book on leadership roles for women in religious institutions of various denominations.  Photos by Patrish Shalestik.
