PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:
This message is a special one because it gives us an opportunity to express our gratitude to two of our members.
We are grateful to Janet Larrain and to Mary Laity.
Janet worked indefatigably with Ginny Mason and insured that all of the elements for our fund-raiser were well-coordinated. Janet was a key person in our success and we are grateful to her.
Mary accepted the responsibility for helping us work together to compose the narrative presentation for our fundraiser. We are also grateful to Mary for the extensive newspaper coverage in ECHO for the WCCP. She provided the wealth of information that the newspaper used to depict the College Club.
Carole Krauthamer
GENERAL MEETING:
On May 19th, following our annual business meeting, Jane Peters Estes will entertain and enlighten us with a program on the “The Battle of Gettysburg: Where Were the Women?”
She will discuss the many roles filled by women during the deadliest battle of the Civil War. Her information has been gleaned from diaries, letters, and newspapers of the period and is told in the words of the women who lived through this famous battle.
Jane Estes sets the stage for her talk by wearing a Victorian-era dress for the occasion. She comes to us through the generosity of one of our members who heard her speak and was enchanted by her presentation.
Invite your friends to join us for this fascinating program.
Janet Reiche
We shall begin at 12:00 p.m. with a luncheon prepared by board members.
At 1:00 a short business meeting will precede the talk by Ms. Estes.
We shall ask for a donation of $5 to cover expenses.

SAD NEWS:
We regret to tell you that long-time member, Mannie Kimberly, died March 30. She was active in several clubs, including the Women’s College Club, and will be missed by many friends. A memorial service will be held at Windrows at a future date.
We received word on April 5 that Jane Coda’s husband, Ed, has died.
Jane was a devoted member of the College Club and filled many positions, including editor of the Blue Slip, before she and her husband left for Florida a couple years ago. Our sympathy goes out to Jane.
THANK YOU:
Our Hospitality Chair for many years, Janet Young, has resigned from that post. Janet, with the help of donated goodies from members, and with original centerpieces by Barbara Rubano, has been conscientiously putting together tempting refreshments for general meetings.
We are looking for possible co-chairs to step in to continue the tradition Janet has put into place. She will gladly explain the steps she used to arrange the table.
