General Meeting Luncheon- May 16, 2016

GENERAL MEETING LUNCHEON:

May 16, 2016, Monday, in addition to a fascinating speaker, we had our Annual
Luncheon preceding the Business Meeting to welcome the 2016 – 2017 Board.

Luncheon was served at 12:00 p.m. and the meeting begun at 1:00.

About our speaker and topic:

“THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME?  A LOOK AT YOUTH CULTURE IN A MODERN WORLD”

Elizabeth M. Casparian, PhD, Executive Director, HiTOPS, has appeared on My9News, MSNBC, CBS News, The Today Show, and the CBS Early Show.  She has been interviewed by “Seventeen Magazine” and “Family Circle Magazine”, as well as several other publications.  She received her MS and PhD in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and has a BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University.

Her presentation focused on how youth and young adults in today’s modern world are different from and similar to youth throughout the ages.  With both a common sense and a public health approach, Elizabeth brought her expertise to bear on issues of how social media, bullying, decision making, and family dynamics have evolved and what the long term impacts could be on our children, grandchildren, and future generations.

Light refreshments was served after the meeting, and as usual, guests were always welcome.
