Member Spotlight: Lorraine Haucke

February 2021. We turned the spotlight on Lorraine Haucke, who is on the Board, serving as the Hospitality Chair. Lorraine is very proficient in hooking rugs.

“As some members may be aware, I live in an “adult community” which offers various types of activities. Never having had a hobby, the woodshop class looked intriguing and before long, small wooden animals started to grace our home. After a few months, the woodshop instructor suggested that I look into the rug hooking club spearheaded by his wife. Guess you could say, I became “hooked” on rug hooking. The comradery of the women and generosity of sharing knowledge and material, as well as encouragement, have enabled me to complete several projects. During the initial months of COVID-19 isolation, there wasn’t much for me to do. But let’s put it out there, enough is enough!!! I needed something and so I dusted off a project I just did not have the enthusiasm to start. I am pleased to say, even without my friendly fellow hookers, I have made substantial progress. I am enthusiastic about completing my latest project this spring.

My foyer has become my mini gallery. Hope you too have found an activity that provides fulfillment during this difficult period. Welcome to 2021, the promise of getting vaccinated and being able to see our family and friends.” Lorraine Haucke
