We need a marketing plan. Last month I proposed that the club seriously consider the advantages of having its own website. Your Board is engaged in the process of doing that. At the present time, not only do we not have a website, but we are not listed in the telephone directory under “clubs.” Our PO Box has been in Kingston, but how many know that? I have been told by a respected citizen in the community that “I’ve never heard of your club.” We need to reach out to eligible applicants of all ages by offering desirable membership benefits. We need to immediately develop a carefully-crafted membership drive. For a start, please bring one or more potential new members to our next meeting. Then ask, what more can I do? We await your answer.
On December 10, 2012, 12:30 pm, we shall meet in the sanctuary of All Saints Episcopal Church to hear a delightful musical program. The American Boy Choir School, established in 1937, is committed to being the finest choir of its kind in the nation. The school has accomplished this by recruiting and training choristers from around the country. It combines a training program for the mastery of choral music with a superior academic program. The Women’s College Club is honored to have the youngest choristers, the members of the Training Choir, sing at its December program. Thanks to the generosity of the church Rector, Father Hugh Brown, this program will be presented in the sanctuary with seating for many. After the program the young musicians will join us in our usual meeting room for refreshments and to meet the young performers. As with all of our programs, members of the public are cordially invited to attend.
The Board will meet on December 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the home of Danuta Buzdygan-Stys, 200 Jefferson Road, Princeton. Come early to chat and have a cup of coffee. Please call Danuta at 921-7211 if you cannot be there.
We shall meet on Friday, December 7 (Pearl Harbor Day) at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Carol Stawski, 122 Ingleside Ave. Pennington. Read any book by Kathy Reichs and we shall compare her style and the situations presented. Call Carol at 737-0912 if you can come. If you enjoy reading and socializing, join us.
A NOTE FROM OUR TREASURER
Our Tax Exempt status remains the same. We are assured that the IRS is proceeding with its backlog of applications and will contact us when our turn comes up. No date is available.
Carolyn Massad would like to form a committee to work on a new directory for the Women’s College Club. It would be the traditional style which we had for many years. Carolyn’s phone number is 609-895-1812 or email her at
cemassad(at)comcast.net to let her know you will join her on this project.
Get into the Holiday Spirit!! Come and join us on Wednesday, December 5th to see the Festival of Trees at Morven Museum, 55 Stockton St. in Princeton. Holiday trees are decorated by local organizations and businesses. We will
meet in the parking lot at Morven at 11 a.m. Entrance fee is $6 per person. After touring the exhibit, we will go to the Yankee Doodle Room at the Nassau Inn for lunch (on your own). Call Beverly Dubee (609-924-4555) or Marge White (609-921-8575).
One of our College Club members, Laura Kruskel, has worked with Origami for many years, and she has given demonstrations in hospitals, schools, libraries, and community centers. On January 14th , at 10:30 a.m., we shall meet at Laura’s home, 60 Little Brook N, Princeton. She will give us a demonstration, and we shall also see the beautiful
collection of Origami in her home. After an hour of instruction, each person will have the opportunity to make an Origami piece for herself. Then we shall go to your favorite restaurant in the Princeton Shopping Center for lunch. Call Beverly Dubee or Marge White for reservations. Space is limited.
