PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

We have much to look forward to as this year winds down.  We are going to the Firestone Library on Friday, December 11 at 1:30 p.m. and back to my house afterwards for tea and sherry.

We have a different kind of program scheduled for our December general meeting on Monday, December 7th, and on Monday, January 18,  2016 we gather at the Nassau Club at 10:00 a.m. again for coffee and goodies to begin the new year.  We hope you will all come and catch up with all that we have planned for our 100th birthday celebration on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Chauncey Center at 3:00 p.m.  In the meantime, please think of how you can help make this celebration the wonderful event it should be.

Kathy Hutchins

GENERAL MEETING:  Please note that we are meeting on the first Monday of December, instead of the third Monday.

Wondering how to decorate for the holidays this year?  Looking for something new or different?  Need some inspiration?  Join your College Club friends at the December 7, 2015 meeting when Alanna Drzyga of Monday Morning Flowers will demonstrate how to design seasonal styles for the holidays.  Starting from scratch she will show us how to create our own arrangements for our doors or tables along with “tips and tricks” that artistic designers use.

Allana has been working in the floral industry for 13 years.  She is currently the Artistic Director at Monday Morning Flowers, which is located in the Princeton Forrestal Village and in Yardley, PA.  If you would like to take home a “ready-made” creation, the decorations which she originates will be available for purchase.  Invite your friends to join you at this seasonal program.  We will meet at the All Saints Church on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.  Following the program, refreshments will be served.  We look forward to wishing everyone a special holiday season, decorated with imagination and style.

Janet Reiche

BOARD MEETING:

The board meeting on December 1, 2015 will be held at the home of Kathy Hutchins, 33 Duffield Place, at 10:00 a.m.  If you are unable to attend, please call Kathy.  Arrive a little early to chat before the agenda is addressed.

TRIPS:

Kathy Hutchins has arranged a tour of the Princeton University Firestone Library on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Please meet before the tour at Kathy’s home, 33 Duffield Place, to park and carpool into town.  Because of parking issues, drivers can let people off near the Library and then park.  Parking expenses will be shared.  After the tour, participants are invited back to Kathy’s home for tea, etc.  The Library needs to know the names of tour participants, so let Kathy know as soon as possible if you plan to attend.

BOOK GROUP:

Remember that Friday, December 4, 2015 is the next Book Meeting with Double Cross by Ben MacIntyre at the home of Mary Laity.

Please call Mary to let her know you will be one of the group.

We meet now at 12:00 p.m. with a light lunch served.

Looking ahead: January’s book will be The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett.

February’s book will be The Nightingale by Kristina Hannah.

OPERA GROUP:

The MET/HD series will not present an opera in December, so hold January’s dates 16 and 30 open for the “Les Pecheurs de Perles” and “Turandot”.

McCAFFREY’S RECEIPTS:

Members and their friends can help us increase our Scholarship Fund by collecting your McCaffrey’s receipts and giving them to the WCCP.  As part of McCaffrey’s contribution program to non-profit organizations such as ours, the store will donate 1% of the total of all eligible cash register receipts.  No additional discount can be applied, so if you have used another discount such as Senior Tuesday, the receipt is ineligible.  Milk, sushi, and cigarettes also do not apply.

At the general meetings look for the collection basket to deposit your receipts.

You may also send or give your slips to Beverly Kestenis, 178 Terhune Road, Princeton NJ 08540.  Please feel free to call her (609-924-9703) if you have any further questions.

LUNCHING OUT GROUP:

Mary Laity will send notices of future luncheon dates and restaurants. She is trying to vary the days of the week to accommodate more members.  Watch for the next email from Mary, call her or email her.

SUNSHINE LADY:

If you know someone who is ill or who has lost a family member, please contact Bonnie Larson.  She will send a card representing all members of WCCP.

Of course, you may send one yourself.

WCCP’S HISTORY:

Our historian, Mary Laity, has placed a detailed history of the Women’s College Club of Princeton on our website.

To access it, click on ABOUT on the left side of the first page to read the details.
