We have less than a month until our anniversary celebration. Please come and bring friends, family, one and all.
The board is working on a slate of officers for next year and considering plans for a benefit next year. We would all welcome any suggestions that the membership could make.
Please consider working on a committee – trips, hospitality, or fundraising. We could use someone to proofread. I spelled Lorraine Haucke’s name incorrectly in my first president’s message! Also, how can we improve the newsletter and what could we add to make it more interesting. Is there a need which the newsletter could fulfill? Let me know.
SUNDAY, APRIL 10, 2016:
This is the day of WCCP’s 100th anniversary celebration at the Chauncey Center on the ETS campus. At 3:00 p.m. we shall gather for tea, with a cello supplying background music, and two very special speakers. If you have not received an invitation, call Gay Cullen.
The Board will meet on April 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the home of Marlene Gordon. Arrive a little early to chat while you drink coffee before we begin promptly at 10 sharp. Please call Marlene at if you are unable to attend.
Aloha Holloway has been organizing groups for the MET/HD Saturday afternoon opera programs at the Hamilton AMC.
Contact her well ahead of time so she can buy tickets before they are sold out, which is happening more often lately.
April will be a full month to complete this year:
April 2 – “Madama Butterfly” – Puccini – with Kristine Opolais, Roberto Alagna,
Dwayn Croft, and Maria Zifchak. 1:00 p.m. until 4:40 p.m.
April 16 – “Roberto Devereux” – Donizetti – with Sondra Radvanovsky, Elina
Garanca, Matthew Polenzani, and Mariusz Kwiecien. 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
April 30 – “Elektra” – Strauss – with Nina Stemme, Waltraud Meier, Adrianne
Pieczonka, and Eric Owens. 1:00 p.m. until 3:10 p.m.
The opera world is fortunate that younger singers have filled the void left when our favorite old-timers had to retire. Enjoy!
Members and their friends can help us increase our Scholarship Fund by collecting their McCaffrey’s receipts and giving them to us. As part of McCaffrey’s contribution program to non-profit organizations such as ours, the store will donate 1% of the total of all eligible cash register receipts. No additional discount can be applied, so if you have used another discount such as Senior Tuesday, the receipt is ineligible. Milk, sushi, and cigarettes do not apply.
You may give them to Beverly Kestenis at the general meetings, contact her at (609-924-9703).
LUNCHING OUT GROUP:

please call Bonnie. A light lunch will be served.
Note: The selection for March was changed: The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim has been substituted for the previous selection.
Bobbye Galloway has moved.
Kay Bingeman has a new address.
